The Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu is located in posh colony of Gandhi Nagar, District Jammu & caters to the needs of the patients coming from the urban as well as rural areas of Jammu Province. It also covers the patients if referred from other districts. The hospital is sanctioned with 200 beds and functional beds are 160; which almost remain occupied all through the year. All sorts of basic facility like Lab tests, X-Rays, ECG, Ultrasound, CT-Scan, Audiometry, Physiotherapy, Blood Bank etc. are available in the hospital with a good team of Doctors & Paramedics comprising of almost all the specialties required at District Level. Approximately 1300-1400 patients are examined in an average on daily basis & provided quality treatment including medicines, operations, deliveries etc. All types of surgeries including Laparoscopic, Gen. Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT Surgery, Eye Surgery, Dental Surgery, Gynaecological Surgeries etc are being performed successfully in the hospital by Surgeons of repute.

Free Medicines, Investigations, Diet, Transport etc. are being provided to the patients under JSSK, Senior Citizen, BPL, Rape, Acid victims, Accidents & Other emergencies conditions. The services are provided round the clock by Medical Officers of the hospital with consultants on call duty round the clock. The OPD Block of the hospital is equipped with lift system (02 in No.) for patients & also there is a well equipped Conference Hall where CMEs/Seminars/Conferences & Trainings are regularly held to update the knowledge of doctors & paramedics so that better quality services are provided to the patients. The hospital is also a sort of training centre where doctors & paramedics from periphery are trained in various disciplines like Laparoligation, Ultrasound gram, Theater Technician, Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) etc. This hospital is also running the Bridge Program Certificate in Community Health Course for BAMS in collaboration with IGNOU. The hospital also provides practical training to the students of a number of paramedical colleges including ANMT School Gandhi Nagar. The hospital has its own Parking area, Park, Cafeteria/canteen, Medical shop, Library etc to provide better service to the patients/staff. The hospital is provided with CCTV cameras to keep an eye on all the activities being carried in the hospital with control in the Medical Superintendent’s office. Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu is the first hospital in the state developed as an E-Hospital project under (NIC) & all the information are available online in this hospital. The hospital is under process for accreditation from NQAS. The hospital has a well equipped Blood Bank which caters to the need of the whole province and E-Raktosh, online Blood Bank software is running successfully. The hospital has well equipped SNCU and DEIC under National Health Mission to provide free of cost treatment to the children (0 to 18 years). In addition, hospital is backed with 04 Generators, Dedicated feeders/inverters etc to provide 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to the hospital & similarly special line with own bore well of the hospital to provide 24 hours water supply to the hospital. Immunization against all the killer diseases less than 05 years of age is provided on daily basis as per National Immunization Schedule. The Biomedical Waste generated in the hospital is outsourced to Common Waste Treatment Facility – ANMOL Healthcare. Similarly Sanitation/Security of the hospital is also outsourced under Hospital Development Fund.
